Well. If you know me at all, you know that I have a masssiiivvve sweet tooth. My fav foods are cookies, cupcakes, hershey bars, milk shakes...you get the idea :) Anyway, because sweets (particularly baked goods!) bring JOY to my life, I am constantly on the lookout for healthier versions of said foods :) Because, you see, there ARE healthier versions. This is why I don't preach absolution when it comes to eating habits. As long as the vast majority of your diet is centered around clean & nutritious foods, I am ALL for indulging in the evils of cookies & cupcakes, because I truly believe they add some much needed pleasure to our days! BUT, save calories where you can when preparing these foods!
Please please PLEASE share your fav "healthified" recipes with me! There are SO many ways to prepare our fav baked yummies using substitutions and twists that lessen the calories, and up the nutrition level! Help a sister out! I've got a chocolate chip cookie recipe and a white chocolate strawberry oatmeal cookie recipe that I will be sharing later this week! YUM!

I dare not share my train with cake that Gabe and I are on!!
Here is a SIMPLE idea- I love taking Dreyer's Vanilla light ice cream and cutting up strawberries and bananas or peaches and mixing them in to make my own strawberry/banana or peach ice cream. Marble slab style, without the marble slab. Just mix in a bowl and put back in the freezer for an hour. Add some light cool whip and that makes for an awesome spring dessert!
When I'm craving a peanut butter dessert, I mix 2 cups of chunky peanut butter, 2 chopped banannas, and 1/2 cup raisins in a bowl and set in the freezer for an hour. I then roll the mixture into inch sized balls and place back in the freezer for a yummy and natural peanut buttery treat.
Also, when I'm craving oatmeal raisin cookies, I make this recipe. These to me are so good! http://www.quakeroats.com/cooking-and-recipes/content/recipes/recipe-detail.aspx?recipeId=680
If you are craving something chocolaty, try these. Love them. Add some chopped walnuts for an extra crunch and even sweetened cranberries are great!

And this apple pie recipe is the most challenging of the ideas I've listed, but by far most delicious with a scoop of light vanilla ice cream. http://www.eatingwell.com/recipes/deep_dish_apple_pie.html
